New Royal Enfield Bullet 500 launched in India

2013 Royal Enfield Bullet 500
The teaser we posted a few days ago finally transformed into an official launch of the new Royal Enfield Bullet 500. Launched in a new forest green shade (we like it), the new Royal Enfield Bullet 500 sports the classic winged badge on the 13.5 litre fuel tank. The signature twin pilot lamps as in the Classics make it to the new motorcycle. The traditional contoured single saddle has been included with a mini back rest for pillion to take care of the seating duties. Undulations would be absorbed by the 130mm travel telescopic forks at the front and twin gas shocks with 80mm travel at the rear. The tail lamp has been retained from the Classics.

Talking of mechanical changes, the 500cc UCE engine now is being fed by a carburettor instead of the EFI and results a slight dip in power figures and revs too. The new Bullet 500 now makes 26.1 bhp @ 5100 rpm with torque rated at 40.9 nm @ 3800 rpm as compared to 27.2 bhp @ 5250 rpm and 41.3 nm @ 4000 rpm on the Classic 500. Tyre specifications remains the same as in the case of the Classics and the new Thunderbird with a 90/90-19 inchers at the front and 120/80-18 at the rear. The front brakes are similar to the Classics at twin-pot 280mm single disc with a 153mm drum setup at the rear.

Like everyone, we too await on the pricing announcement and we expect the new Royal Enfield Bullet 500 to be a cheaper alternative to the Classic 500s and the Thunderbird 500.
